THE STORY
Slow, long distillation in unusually small stills gives Lagavulin its rich, oily body. Sixteen years rounds the peat into something closer to a fireside than a bonfire.
Rich peat smoke, dried fruit, sherried walnut, smoked tea.
Full, silky, sweet-then-savoury, iodine, dark chocolate.
Endless; smoke, salt, and a dry, mocha finish.
Aging process
Sixteen years in refill American oak with sherry influence, deep in Lagavulin’s coastal warehouses on Islay.
Terroir & region
Lagavulin Bay, south coast Islay. Heavy peat, a long fermentation and slow distilling define the house style.
