Structure
THE STORY
Lafite sits on the gravelly slopes of Pauillac in the Médoc, and its wine is famous for finesse rather than force. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the structure, Merlot the softness, and time turns it into something almost weightless.
Cassis, cedar, graphite, violets and a whisper of cigar box.
Silky yet precise; blackcurrant, fine tannin, fresh acidity and a mineral line.
Very long, cool and elegant, with sweet cedar fading slowly.
At the table
Roast lamb, aged hard cheese, wild mushrooms and slow-cooked beef.
How it is made
Hand-harvested, fermented in oak and aged around eighteen to twenty months in new French oak barrels before blending and bottling.
Terroir & region
Deep gravel banks beside the Gironde estuary drain fast and reflect heat — ideal for late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon.
One of the five First Growths of the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Its older vintages are among the most collected wines on earth, and counterfeits are a constant problem — buy only through trusted merchants.
The club never sells bottles. Beware of counterfeits — buy only from trusted merchants.
